The following is from a book titled Another Culture/Another World by Father Michael Oleksa. Association of Alaska School Boards, 2005.
Different cultures see the world differently. Different cultures structure, understand and play the game of life differently. These are not differences of right and wrong, good or bad, practical or impractical. They are just different . . . Comparisons do not equate with moral judgments. (p. 17)
The amazing thing, and the thing that most Christians just do not get, is that any given Christians way of providing structure and understanding to the world is not the only way of doing so. By failing to “get” this, most Christians miss a real relationship with the living Jesus/God in exchange for a Jesus/God who is reduced to words and thoughts that please them. The living God is limited to a dogma.
